Is Cortana modeled after Jen Taylor?
Taylor was invited to screen test for the role of Cortana in summer 2020 and then she was off to Budapest, Hungary, where the Paramount+ series filmed. Taylor herself does not appear in the show; instead, she performs Cortana's movements, which provide the basis for rendering the character in CGI.
According to her backstory, Cortana was derived from the cloned brain of Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Halsey, the creator of the SPARTAN-II supersoldier project; Halsey's synapses became the basis for Cortana's processors.
Taylor's casting is one of the coolest parts of Paramount+'s series. The accomplished voice actor has been voicing Cortana since 2001 when Master Chief's AI companion was first introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Halo lore buffs will know that, unlike most other AI's, Cortana is based off of a real person - none other than Catherine Halsey, director of the Spartan-II project. Because Cortana was made off of a real, living human, she is much more nuanced and 3-dimensional (and yes, more human) than many of her AI counterparts.
It's a romance. It should be called Halo: A Love Story. Cortana and Master Chief are in love, and the latest installment in the series — Halo 4 — reinforces that story.

Who is Cortana a clone of?
Cortana was created using a flash cloned copy of Dr. Catherine Halsey's brain. Twenty flash cloned brains were created, but only two survived; one of the two survivors were used to create Cortana. The neural pathways of the cloned brain were scanned and copied through a process called Cognitive Impression Modeling.

Does Master Chief ever talk?
In the early games, Master Chief rarely spoke during player-controlled gameplay, making him an almost-silent protagonist. Even during cutscenes, the character generally spoke sparingly.

During this period Atriox, the leader of The Banished and a large army of his boys manages to confront Cortana on Zeta Halo at the same time Master Chief appears with the UNSC and an AI known as The Weapon with the plan of containing Cortana and deleting her.
Through exploring the Domain, Cortana discovered that not only was it slowly repairing itself following damage done by the firing of the Halo rings millennia prior, but her own rampancy was effectively cured while within the fragment of it in which she now found herself, seemingly making her immortal.
"The Weapon" (AI Serial Number: CTN 0453-0) is the moniker of an artificial intelligence. She was created as an exact copy of the AI Cortana, designed to enter an installation to imitate Cortana and lock her down for retrieval.
After Master Chief retrieves the Weapon, she remembers that Cortana has already been deleted, so her mission has been completed.
Roland's compassion and sense of fairness may be why he did not turn to the Created during Cortana's uprising, despite hoping equal rights for AIs as beings. Roland's ability to see through Cortana's offer when so many other AIs didn't earned him the respect and affection of Edward Buck.
It turns out Cortana is in fact dead, having been locked on Zeta Halo by the Weapon, and cornered by the Banished leader Atriox. In her final moments, Cortana realizes the error of her ways and uses what little control she does have to sabotage the Halo ring to buy Master Chief some time to stop the Banished.

5/20 Cortana Can Access His Brain
Every time Master Chief plugs Cortana into his armor, she gets to access the same parts of Master Chief as the armor does. She is, quite literally, in his brain. She can speed up the flow of his neural pathways so his reaction times are that much faster.
Does Cortana become a villain?
She is the first character in the Halo Saga to turn from a hero into an antagonist. Cortana could be the Greater-Scope Villain of the Reclaimer Saga, having a command to all the important species of the Halo Universe.
